Please note : last access to the monument is one hour before closing time.

Closed on January 1, May 1, November 11 and December 25.

How to get there

BY CAR

From Lyon: A 7 to Avignon, N 570 to Arles, then D 17 to Fontvieille.

From Marseille: A 7 to Salon-de-Provence, A 54 and N 113 to Arles, then D 17 to Fontvieille.

From Montpellier: A 9, exit no. 26, N 313 and N 572 to Arles, then D 17 to Fontvieille.
Free, unsupervised parking is available in front of the abbey.

BY BIKE

Montmajour Abbey is accessible by bike along the main road (dangerous route). Bicycle storage available at the monument reception desk.

BY TRAIN

Arles is accessible by train from Marseille and Toulouse on the Intercités, and by TGV from Paris and Avignon.

BY BUS

The abbey is accessible by bus from downtown Arles Ligne 702. For timetables, visit the website  Zou .

Services and visiting conditions

  • Proper attire (no shirt, bare feet or bathing suit)
  • Strollers allowed
  • Dogs not allowed (except service dogs)
  • Photo tripods and drones prohibited
  • In the event of storm, rain or strong wind, outdoor areas (necropolis, tower, terrace) may be closed.
  • Uneven ground
  • Numerous steps
  • The abbey has no lockers, so backpacks and suitcases are not allowed inside the monument.
  • Knives and aerosols are prohibited.
